DEMP Instructor Qualification Course

Diving Emergency Management Provider Instructor Course

When a dive accident occurs, multiple things happen. Separate small problems can compound to create a larger problem. DAN's Diving Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) program prepares your students to handle the kinds of multifaceted accidents that may occur. It's an easy and fast way to provide all four of DAN's core first-aid courses in one program.

The first step in being prepared to handle a diving emergency is education. DAN courses teach you the first aid steps to care for an injured diver and interact with medical professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a DAN DEMP Instructor?
You must attend a DAN IQC. You will also need to be a DAN Member, an active scuba educator (dive master/instructor or higher) and have a current CPR/first aid instructor certification.
I’m not a dive educator, but I’d like to teach DAN courses?
On occasion, DAN will waive the scuba educator requirement based on an individual's background. To apply for a waiver, contact DAN Training with your request. Include why we should grant the waiver and information about your diving and teaching backgrounds. Include supporting documentation.
What Will I learn in a DEMP IQC?
Many people can perform the skills taught in the DAN provider courses, but they need some help in developing skills that are role-model quality and in learning how to teach those skills to others. Ideally, you should be comfortable performing skills when you take an instructor course. Don't worry if you aren't. There is plenty of time for everyone to practice.
